WHEN BUYING A TIMESHARE
Tips
Make sure that the timeshare that you are buying is suitable for you and you understand how it operates.
Not all timeshare holidays schemes suit all families equally, so you should get information about the different options in order to choose the one which meets all your needs.
Fixed week: it is when you buy a week in a specific unit (apartment or villa). This option is suitable for those families who wish to travel to their timeshare resort every year and during the same week or weeks, this being the original meaning of timeshare.
For security´s sake you should make sure that the chosen week is clearly specified in your agreement being identified through its name and number (from 1 to 53) and the apartment number.
Floating week: You buy the right to spend a week in a specific season – high, middle or low, according to some colours, which may be different in some resorts. You must book the week that you wish to enjoy every year, always subject to availability, and get information about how long in advance you should make said booking.
You can consider floating week as a good choice if you wish to spend said week in your resort and need flexibility in your holidays.
Points: If you do not wish your usual resort to become your second home, or if you prefer to travel all around the world through your timeshare, then you must know that the purchase of points would be a good choice since it is a way of holiday currency. You can choose among different offers of points schemes and point resorts, although you must remember that accommodation will be subject to availability and the inventory deposited by the resort.
Ask for a point chart to know how many points you need to visit your favourite destination in the season that you wish. Make sure that the points are secured by any property.
If you have any doubt, enquiry before entering into the agreement so that you can enjoy your timeshare with no inconvenience.
